Necessity, the Mother of Invention

Necessity is speaking to her child, “Okay, Invention, Daddy needed to go to work for a few hours today, so he can’t pick you up.  We need to figure out a way to get you in and out of your play area today!  Just get up on the chair like this.  Good!  Now, put your leg over the side of the gate and step on the other chair like that.  Great!  Now, hold Momma’s hand while you get down onto the floor.  Awesome!”

Necessity straightens up, grabs her back and tries to breathe the pain out of her body through her pursed lips.  She is thankful that an appointment with the doctor has been made for this afternoon.  She is fully aware that the doctor may require x-rays, and that the x-rays may only reveal what’s going on, but not provide relief.  She’d rather know.

Invention, armed with the knowledge of how to escape her play area, quickly realizes that a chair can be used to get to most naughty things in the house.  Necessity can see her scanning the room, sizing up the obstacles.

Necessity will have to be very vigilant from this point forward.
