That must have been so terrifying! I grew up in KS and saw many Tornado warnings and tornados came close but I was never actually in one. We were visiting last spring and on our drive there, there were tornados right and left. We even saw one in the rear view mirror. My youngest son was so scared! Your story gave me chills. The freakiest parts? The sky color, the cat scrabbling at the window and wailing (and then throwing up), and afterwards, the incredible eerie stillness -- and the semi truck on our suburban street, the driver having seen the funnel cloud coming, so he zipped off the highway to his home down the street.
