Our Trip to British Columbia & the Pacific Northwest – Part 1: Vancouver

In July, we took a trip to British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. We had a FANTASTIC time. I’m sorting through the photos and reliving every wonderful moment. (Our summer has been brutal, so we NEEDED a trip to make nice, happy memories!)

We left bright and early on July 19th. We got back to the house with just a few minutes to spare before July 31st rolled over on the calendar. We were exhausted and happy. Our hearts were full. School is just around the corner, and I’m not ready to let summer go. Not yet.

So, without further ado, here are some photos from our trip! (As always, feel free to enlarge the photos by clicking on them!)

Mt. Rainier!

Mt. Rainier! We circled a few times before landing in Seattle. The view of this beauty was amazing!

We stopped for lunch in Everett, WA.

We rented a Jeep Renegade in Seattle and headed north! We stopped for lunch in Everett, WA. Not a bad view, huh??

Our first night there, we went out to explore Vancouver: These leaves in the background were HUGE!

These hydrangea were the size of my head! Speaking of heads, I could NOT wrap my mind around these colors! Absolutely gorgeous!

No, YOU took a picture of the fancy-schmancy "washroom" (restroom) in a Vancouver restaurant! We couldn't get it all in one picture!

The next day, we explored Stanley Park. Ravens in a dead tree. Creepy! (and cool!)

We found a really tiny tree stump!

Look at the teeny tiny tree stump we found on a hiking path in Stanley Park, Vancouver! (For reference, my husband is 6’2″!!)

I’d anticipated walking 6-miles around the Seawall of Stanley Park. I knew we could easily do that in a day, and we could do so at our leisure. (We’d picked a hotel that was close to the park for this very reason!) There were some letterboxes hidden in the park, and we wanted to add CANADA to our list of destination finds! (And we were successful! Yeah!) We also wanted to see some places where they filmed one of our favorite shows, Psych! (Again, a success!)

We had gorgeous weather (SUNSHINE!),and we loved that the bicyclists and rollerbladers were forced to use a separate path than the pedestrians! We didn’t have to look over our shoulders and could enjoy our walk! What I had NOT anticipated was that all the added trails and stairs we did actually equalled 29,000 (yes, THOUSAND) steps before we got back to our hotel! Yes, that’s 13 miles! For realz, yo! After we collapsed in the room (quite literally), we headed out again that night in search of more adventure. According to the apps on our phones, we ended up with 15 MILES of hiking that day. Not too shabby!

Stay Tuned for Part 2!
