On Saturday night, the babysitter came to play with Claire while my hubby and I went out with our friends Dick and Grace.
Dick and Grace live downtown in an awesome loft. We have found the perfect little parking lot that works for us, and we usually leave the car there and then get everywhere else on foot or by using the bus. It’s a nice change of pace from suburbia.
Because we were going out downtown and we were going to be walking quite a distance in the chilly night air, we opted to wear our leather coats. Our friends also wore their leather coats. We were dressed appropriately for the weather, and we looked like many other stylish couples enjoying their evening.
Saturday night’s destination was a restaurant that our friends had been to a few times, but we had not. When we were planning our outing they’d forwarded us the menu, and it looked great! We couldn’t wait to try it. Our friends find the best restaurants and we always trust their judgment.
The evening is progressing nicely, and we’d taken the bus and were walking the rest of the way to the restaurant. We’re right on-time for our reservations.
But, as soon as we walk in, my hubby gets a funny look on his face. He then whispers something to us that should have been so obvious, but wasn’t. None of us had even realized what was about to happen…until it was too late.
“This is a completely Vegan restaurant?” Yes, yes it is.
“And, we’re all dressed in our leather coats?” Yes, yes we are.
*gasp*
Oh no.
Ooops!
Awkward, Party of Four, your booth is now available.
We quickly followed the host to our table, trying not to make direct eye contact with the other patrons. As soon as we reached our booth, all four of us quickly and politely folded our coats and tucked them into the booth, hiding them from view.
We nervously scanned the crowd, but no one seemed to notice our faux pas.
It didn’t take us long to laugh at ourselves, relax and enjoy the experience. The food was fabulous, and we had a wonderful time. Luckily, our ability to choose menu items was much better than our ability to choose appropriate attire.
Today is Day 10 of 30 in the NaBloPoMo Challenge! Check it out and/or join in the fun!
