In fact, every time I ski, things go downhill, and I’m writing about it at Mile High Mamas, the Denver Post‘s parenting blog today!

I’ve got a project brewing that requires me to stir it more often than it did before, so I’m going to be posting on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays here at The Casual Perfectionist. I also reserve the right to switch that up at any time, but if you know me, you’ll know the thought of ruining the little pattern this will create on the month of December on the sidebar is enough to make me break out in hives.
In fact, I had this post written yesterday, but I couldn’t bring myself to light-up a random Tuesday on that little calendar.
So, what’s happening today? I’ve got a writing piece featured at Mile High Mamas! It’s a little review I did of Winter WonderLights, at The Wildlife Experience.
Here’s a sneak peek of our adventure:
Claire was so excited to see Santa that this is what her face looked like the whole way there.

I love it so much that I made it my Twitter photo.
She got to see Santa AND tell him what she wanted in her stocking. He had some good goals for her. I’m expecting a better-than-average month.

It’s NaBloPoMo Day 25!
Today’s confession: I’m a scientist at heart.
I loved school and did really well in all subjects, but all the aptitude “What Should You Be When You Grow Up” tests all pointed me in the direction of a career in science. (Did you know that I was the only girl in my Advanced Physics class in High School?) On those little tests, science was ranked slightly higher than writing.
When picking a major and focusing on a college degree, I refused to listen and went into Spanish and Social Work instead. I sometimes wonder how my life would be different had I become a scientist.
I have a feeling it wouldn’t matter. It’s not like I’m a social worker anymore anyway. Well, I don’t hold the title officially, but a day doesn’t go by where I’m not someone’s counselor, on one level or another.
I am glad to have gotten more in touch with my inner Writer via The Casual Perfectionist, and my inner Scientist loves reading Popular Mechanics and watching Mythbusters. Science is magical, and I love it.
Speaking of my love of science, I was given the opportunity to “test” some “products” from Steve Spangler Science. (Okay, okay…replace “test” with “play with,” and replace “products” with “toys,” and you’ll have a clear picture of what went down.)
If you’ve spent any time at all here at The Casual Perfectionist, you know that I love shadow portraits. I’m writing about that today at Mile High Mamas, the Denver Post‘s parenting blog!

Here at The Casual Perfectionist, I don’t post a photo with every post. Over at Mile High Mamas, I do.
Whenever possible, I just use photos of my own, so as not to step on anyone’s toes or scrutinize the fine print.
Can you believe I don’t have a single photo of a donkey?
In a situation like this, I’ve been resorting to using a stock photo service that allows its users to use photos for free. Imagine my delight when I found the PERFECT stock photo (by perritorit) to go with my post on the Mile High Mamas website today:
What in the world am I writing about today? Long-time readers of the blog may have heard this story before. It makes me laugh, and I think you’ll enjoy it too. Pop on over and check it out!
I had the opportunity to attend the 40th Anniversary Celebration for Celestial Seasonings! I’m writing about that today at Mile High Mamas.

How to foil a dilly-dallier
Claire loves going to school. She also loves to dilly-dally. How do I get her out the door without losing (any more of) my sanity? I’m writing about that today at Mile High Mamas.

Don’t blame me. Blame the Big Hand.
